While our main client base resides in the greater Des Moines area, we happily build and ship custom creations to customers anywhere in the United States.

About Tim Kern
Tim Kern founded Porch Light Woodworking in 2008 with a vision to bring unique designs and quality craftsmanship together. Tim’s natural artistic abilities and attention to detail led him to pursue and obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from The Kansas City Art Institute in 1989. After college, Tim entered the construction business, where his skill and artistry cultivated an interest in finish woodworking and custom cabinet making.
Today, Tim leverages more than 25 years’ experience to help Porch Light Woodworking clients bring ideas to life. He lives in West Des Moines, Iowa, with his two children.
